Wow, very inspirational! I wish I could do this kind of illustrations with my Wacom tablet. I really love the fact that even though this is done in digital, you can still feel the solid 'human touch'. Awesome work, man.
Beautiful work, as usual. I'm really curious how you made this. Is it all digital with really detailed textures, or is it a traditional piece that you scanned and worked on in PS or something? Either way, I'm becoming a big fan of your illustration style. :)
Thanks Amanda! Most everything I do is 100% digital at this point. Photoshop and my Wacom tablet are my 2 best friends :) For these illustrative/detailedtype logos for Lb. I usually take this approach:
1. Build a very rough "skeleton" of the image with basic shapes in Illustrator. I make many many variations and usually do my "sketching" this way until I finally have something I'm happy with. At this point I often get a rough idea of colors and such too but rarely nothing permanent.
2. Copy and paste the skeleton into photoshop and begin illustrating over it, coloring etc. Sometimes I even use Blender to generate very rough basic 3D models (my modeling skills are not the greatest). I usually do this to get an idea of space, depth and relation of objects. Some people might think this step is silly but hey it works for me and I like it, haha. It's just hard for me to create something visually that has "depth" without actually seeing it with depth first...does that make sense? I'm probably crazy.
3. Spend hours hours drawing and redrawing, refining the image, adding texture overlays, etc until I'm either to a point where I feel it is done or the project needs to go to print, lol.
Glad you like it, thanks for asking hope this helps give you an idea!
Wow extremely detailed piece you have here. At first glance without reading the description wine label popped into my head.. Guess I'm not too far off! Great work.
