The cap is 25% slimmer that the current 20oz bottles and 27% more eco-friendly because it greatly reduces the footprint. This design is 65% more collapsible than the current bottle encouraging more recycling due to ease in transport. Environmentally conscious people can easily collapse the bottle, carry it around until the can recycle. The design is brilliant. The bottle looks futuristic, stylish and luxurious. Packaging is extremely important to brand so this would be a giant step if Coca Cola considered this. However, it would be a step in the right direction and with some heavy marketing Coca Cola can use this to position their product and company as 100%. I would be more loyal to Coca Cola for that simple fact. What are your thoughts on this new packaging design. The more buzz it gets, the more people talk, the greater chances it reaches Coca Cola's radar. Is it possible we can see such great change in their packaging?

  • This is great except that as far as shipping goes the soda travels almost EVERYWHERE on 53' trailers (and bottled regionally) and you can only stack 53' trailer about half full because then the truck is over weight. It's great for anything smaller only to save space but doesn't save much fuel. The one time it may make difference is when say Pepsi, partnered with frito-lay stacks half the truck with pepsi and can then stack more of the truck with chips because of the smaller footprint.

  • This isn't new idea Heiniken, in the early 1960's, designed and produced quantity of square-footprint bottles. These were, however, made of glass, designed to stack and use as building material. Unfortunately, the idea didn't take off.

    Producing less waste through bottles made with less materials is good, but bottles that could be used in eco-building could be pretty good too.

  • Just as long as it is still filled with corn syrup and everything else unhealthy am all for it.

  • Coke is always looking for new gimmicks, and think this is great one. Yeah the old bottle is Iconic but that is exactly why it would be more more of green eye-catcher. Great packaging. love it. But don't drink soda:)

  • The Coke bottle shape silhouette is iconic and big part of their marketing. Leave this square shape for another drink.

  • This looks really cool, but work in Coca Bottling plant in the UK, and can tell you all now that it would be nigh on impossible to produce.

    Coca Cola bottles are blown from PET plastic, it would be impossible to blow bottles into this shape, unless different materials were used, which would cost the company FAR to much to make it worthwhile investment.

    Not to mention the shape and the  collapsibility of the bottles would cause frequent problems with machine jams.

    If the bottles wasn't so square, if the edges were rounded slightly like some brands of mineral water it would be slightly easier, but filling bottles with water is vastly different process to filling with gassy pressurized liquid, the shape of the bottle plays an imporant role, there would be issues with fobbing and maintaining pressure...

    There are far too many other engineering problems to list, I'll end it with this;

    Nice Idea, but too expensive, highly impractical and difficult to implement
